Afshan Sayed's Biography

IMG_8440.JPG

I am a proud alumna of St Teresa’s Convent High School. An institution that taught me most of what I know today. After graduating from college, I pursued a career in the entertainment industry. Starting first as an assistant director in fiction entertainment, my short films were rewarded in competitive categories. That led me to write more screenplays.

But every time someone asked me to follow screenwriting, I secretly ached to write a book. My dreams did not take shape till recently when India went into a state of lockdown. I utilized the uncertain times to write my first book meant for children, Reyansh, the Trojan horse. For I no longer felt any fear of failure or losing precious time over something unusual and uncommon.

I hope children and young adults enjoy the book as much as I've loved writing it for them.

Fun facts: I believe in ghosts even though I have never, ever encountered one. I devour thrillers to the last page or frame be it books or films. My favorite subject in school was Mathematics, of which I remember little.

My message to youth is to pursue what they love. However, unusual or uncommon.
